Chapter Eight

"He what?"

"Jake cheated on you with me."

Laughter bubbled from Delaney's lips as tears streaked down her cheeks. This is a joke. It has to be. "You're trying to tell me you're gay? Both of you?"

"No! I'm not gay," Colby snapped, jumping to his feet. "I like women. I love you. I love making love with you. I like pussy. Okay?"

"Then explain to me how Jake cheated on me with you."

Colby closed his eyes before he slumped back into the chair.

"Jake? You haven't said a word here. Are you trying to tell me our whole relationship was a lie? That you're gay?"

"No. I'm not gay either, Delaney." He got to his feet and stopped in front of her. "I'm what most people call bi or bi-sexual. I like both men and women. I prefer women most of the time, but there are times when I like being with a guy."

"So when did this cheating occur?"

"The Sunday after we made love for the first time."

"You mean the day after I gave you my virginity?" With her arms folded across her chest, she frowned at Jake.

"Yes."

She threw up her hands. "This is priceless. Did you know all along you like men?"

"I had an idea. It's why I wouldn't stay on the football team during high school. Coming out of the closet during those years is a bad idea, if you know what I mean."

"I guess so." She bit her lip and stepped back out of his reach. "How many guys have you been with? For that matter, how many women have you been with?"

"Does it make a difference, Delaney? I love you. I want you."

"But you want Colby too. Colby is who you said you have feelings for, isn't he."

"Yeah. You have to understand something about what happened the day I left you. Colby and I were only together one time. He couldn't come to grips with what happened between us."

"The real reason you two couldn't be friends anymore. It didn't have anything to do with me."

"It did in a roundabout way. You were my girlfriend. I had deep feelings for you that were growing stronger every day, but after Colby and I had sex, it was like a part of me didn't belong to you anymore. It belonged to him. Back in the line shack." He put both hands on her shoulders as he looked deep into her eyes. "The confusion I felt kept dragging me away from you. When you made it sound like you didn't want your parents to know about us, I blew a gasket. I couldn't handle the pressure of us being a secret. I needed to sort out my feelings for both of you. Everything kept coming back to bite me in the ass."

"Now you have?"

"Sort of. All of the feelings running through me are the reason I came back to Red Rock. I had to come to terms with them before I could move on with my life in any other direction."

He turned to glance
